With the introduction of tariffs by the Trump administration, this session will explore the impact on members exporting to the US as well as the wider supply-chain implications. As customs borders are increasingly at the front-line of policing policy measures that aren’t traditionally in the remit of the customs department, we will explore the number of hoops that traders now have to jump through and the amount of compliance activity that businesses are required to undertake.
In the last few years, with the geo-political situation constantly changing, customs can often find itself on the front line of the government’s responses to complex situations, rapidly implementing new rules that make compliance more complicated.
We will look at some of the challenges that have come up in the last few years and what may be around the corner. We will explore how traders now need to be vigilant in monitoring current affairs and look out for developments that may have a knock-on effect like never before.
We will look at areas such as the changing US administration, the UK and EU’s differing responses to the Trump tariffs, some of the sanctions that you need to be aware of and other measures that may impact such as the Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanism (CBAM).
Following this we will also hold our usual round table. As always, we want to make it as interactive as possible and there will be an opportunity to ask questions. If there are any questions that you would like addressed beforehand, please e-mail them to [email protected] who will ensure that these questions are covered during the session.
Please join Customs expert Mike Alexander on Thursday 24 April 2025 at 10am where we will cover all of this and more.
